Privacy Policy
Kids Eat Free Club
This Privacy Policy explains how Kids Eat Free Club ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you use:
- our mobile application (the "App");
- our website at https://kidseatfree.club (the "Website"); and
- related services such as emails, push notifications, prize draws, and restaurant partner tools,
together, the "Service".
By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Our Terms and Conditions also apply: https://kidseatfree.club (and in the App under Menu → Terms).
1. Who we are
Kids Eat Free Club is a family dining discovery service operated from New South Wales, Australia. We help families find restaurants and venues that advertise free or discounted children's meals and related offers.
Contact: hello@kidseatfree.club
2. The personal information we collect
We collect the following kinds of personal information, depending on how you use the Service.
Account and profile
- name;
- email address;
- phone number (optional);
- home suburb, state, postcode, and approximate home location (coordinates);
- passwordless login records (one-time codes, sign-in timestamps);
- membership status (free or Premium);
- referral code and who referred you;
- profile photo, if you add one.
Sign-in with Apple or Google
If you choose Apple or Google sign-in, we receive the identifier those providers share with us, typically:
- your name (where the provider supplies it); and
- your email address.
Apple may give us a private relay email (Hide My Email) instead of your real address. We treat that relay address as your account email.
We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
Kids Eat Free Club's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google sign-in data only to create and authenticate your account, display your name, and operate the Service — not to sell data or build advertising profiles from Google user data.
Location
- the home area you enter at signup or in Profile;
- precise device location, if you allow location access, so we can show nearby deals, distances, and (where relevant) confirm you are on-site to claim a deal;
- map search and suburb autocomplete queries sent to mapping providers (including Google).
You can decline device location. We will then use the home area saved on your profile.
Deal activity
- deals you view, save, claim, hold, or redeem;
- table or booking requests you send through the App;
- QR scans and on-site checks used to verify a claim;
- reviews, ratings, photos, and deal feedback you submit;
- help and support messages.
Device, app, and usage
- device type, operating system, app version, language, and time zone;
- IP address;
- crash and error logs;
- screens visited and in-App events (for example, opening a restaurant, starting a claim);
- push notification tokens and your notification preferences.
Advertising and attribution (App)
When someone taps a Kids Eat Free Club invite link (for example kidseatfree.club/r/yourname), our Website may send them to the Apple App Store or Google Play with a campaign token, and may store a first-party referral cookie. After they install and sign up, the App credits the referrer. We use Apple and Google store campaign reports to understand which invite links led to installs.
In-App analytics (screens viewed and product events) are handled with PostHog. We do not use Kochava or similar mobile measurement partners for invite-link attribution.
Website, cookies, and online advertising
When you visit the Website we (and our partners) may collect:
- pages viewed, referring URL, and approximate location from IP;
- device and browser information;
- cookie and similar identifiers (see section 7).
We use cookies, pixels, and similar tools on the Website to measure visits and signups, understand how the site is used, and support our online advertising (including on social media platforms). See section 7 for more detail and your choices.
Payments
- Members: Premium is billed by Apple or Google through the App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from those platforms or our billing partner. We do not collect your full card number.
- Restaurant partners: listing fees are processed by our payment provider. That provider collects billing details under its own terms.
Prize draws and referrals
- referral activity;
- prize-draw entries and winner contact details, so we can notify you by email.
Children's information
You must be 18 or over to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children as account holders. The Service lists meals for children, but we do not ask you to provide a child's name, date of birth, or photo as part of signup. Please do not include identifying information about children in reviews or photos.
3. How we collect information
- Directly from you — signup, profile, claims, reviews, help forms, prize-draw or referral activity, and partner applications.
- Automatically — when you use the App or Website, including cookies, pixels, SDKs, logs, and analytics tools.
- From Apple or Google — if you sign in with those services.
- From service providers and advertising partners — so we can operate the Service, measure performance, and understand which campaigns or links worked.
- From venues — limited operational information if a venue confirms a booking or redemption connected to your use of the Service.
4. Why we use your information
We use personal information to:
- create and secure your account;
- show relevant deals near your home or current location;
- process claims, holds, QR redemptions, and table requests;
- provide Premium membership and confirm your entitlement;
- send one-time login codes, welcome emails, booking emails, and other service messages;
- send push notifications and (if you opt in) marketing emails or offers;
- run referrals and prize draws, and contact winners;
- measure, improve, and debug the App and Website;
- measure advertising, install, and signup performance;
- prevent fraud, deal abuse, and security incidents;
- comply with law (including the Australian Consumer Law and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth));
- respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Apple and Google sign-in
Sign in with Apple
If you tap Sign in with Apple, Apple authenticates you and may share your name and email (or a Hide My Email relay). You can revoke App access in your Apple ID settings. Deleting your Kids Eat Free Club account in the App does not automatically revoke Apple sign-in; you should also manage that in Apple settings if you wish.
Sign in with Google
If you tap Sign in with Google, Google authenticates you and shares a signed token plus basic profile information (typically name and email) so we can create or log you into your account.
We do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts, or other Google content.
See also: Apple Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.
6. Advertising and measurement
App
Invite links on our Website redirect to the App Store or Play Store with a campaign parameter so Apple and Google can report which share link led to an install. After signup, referral credit is applied in our own systems. In-App product analytics use PostHog.
You can limit analytics by:
- adjusting tracking or ads settings on your device;
- uninstalling the App or deleting your account.
Website
Our Website uses cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to measure visits and conversions (for example, tapping to download the App), improve our online advertising, and build audiences of people who have visited our site (and similar audiences), where permitted by law and platform rules.
Advertising and analytics partners may combine this information with other data they hold about you, in accordance with their own policies. We do not control their independent use of data.
You can manage this through:
- the cookie notice on our Website;
- browser cookie settings;
- your social media and advertising platform privacy settings, where available;
- industry opt-outs such as YourAdChoices where available.
7. Cookies and similar technologies (Website)
We use cookies, pixels, and local storage on the Website.
When you first visit, we display a cookie notice. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies through that notice (and often through your browser).
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Essential | Needed for the site to work (security, load balancing, remembering cookie choices). |
| Analytics | Help us understand how the Website is used, in aggregate. |
| Advertising | Measure campaigns and support relevant online advertising. |
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the Website.
The App uses software development kits (SDKs) rather than browser cookies. Those SDKs may collect the device and usage information described above, including through Apple, Google, and our analytics, notification, and measurement partners.
8. Who we share information with
We share personal information only as needed to run the Service. Categories of recipients include:
| Category | Why we share |
|---|---|
| Apple and Google | Sign-in, app distribution, in-app purchases, maps, and (where applicable) push delivery and device identifiers |
| Cloud and infrastructure providers | Hosting, storage, databases, authentication, and backend processing |
| Communications providers | Transactional email, SMS, and push notifications |
| Payment processors | Premium subscriptions and restaurant partner billing |
| Analytics and product partners | Understanding how the Service is used, fixing errors, and improving features |
| Advertising and attribution partners | Measuring installs, signups, website visits, and campaign performance |
| Mapping and location services | Suburb search, maps, and distance estimates (including Google) |
| Restaurant and venue partners | Information needed to honour a table request or claim (for example party details you submit) |
| Professional advisers and authorities | Where required by law, or to protect our rights and users |
We use contracted service providers who are only permitted to use personal information to provide services to us, except where a provider also acts as an independent controller under its own policies (for example Apple, Google, or an advertising platform).
We may transfer information if we sell or reorganise the business, provided the recipient agrees to protect it in a way that is consistent with this Policy.
We may update the specific providers we use from time to time without changing the purposes described in this Policy.
9. Overseas disclosure
Several of our providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. Those countries may not have the same privacy laws as Australia.
By using the Service you consent to this overseas disclosure. We take reasonable steps to deal with reputable providers and, where practical, to ensure they handle personal information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
10. Storage, security, and retention
Account data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with access controls and encrypted connections.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please keep your email account secure, because we use email one-time codes to sign you in.
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as long as we need it to provide the Service, run prize draws, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal, tax, or accounting duties.
If you delete your account in the App, we delete or de-identify your profile and associated personal information, except records we must keep (for example completed prize-draw records, invoices, or information needed to handle a complaint). Residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period until those backups rotate.
11. Your rights (Australia)
Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you may:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or out of date (you can update name, phone, and home location in Profile);
- request deletion of your account (Delete my account in Profile, or email us);
- opt out of marketing emails and optional notifications;
- complain if you believe we have mishandled your information.
We will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify it is you. We may refuse a request in limited cases allowed by law (for example if it would unreasonably impact someone else's privacy).
Marketing: you can turn off marketing or deal alerts in notification settings, use the unsubscribe link in emails, or email hello@kidseatfree.club. We may still send essential service messages (login codes, booking confirmations, prize-winner notices, legal updates).
Complaints: email us first and we will try to fix it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): https://www.oaic.gov.au.
If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, including notifying affected individuals and the OAIC where required.
12. Direct marketing
We may use your email, push token, and in-App messages to tell you about deals, referrals, prize draws, and Premium. This is so we can operate a deals club, not to sell your details to other marketers.
You can opt out as set out in section 11. Opting out of marketing does not opt you out of the Service itself.
13. Third-party sites and venues
Listings, maps, booking widgets, and links may take you to a restaurant's own site, phone, or booking tool. Those third parties have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for them.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date will change, and the current version will be published on the Website and in the App. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you in the App or by email.
15. Contact
